Non-Sterile Concept
Single-chamber system with ice condensers directly in the drying chamber
Details
Christ Epsilon single-chamber systems are always a good choice when the primary consideration is high drying performance with low capital expenditure and low energy costs. They also ensure reliable and economical operation year after year. With large shelf area and adjustable shelf spacing, they are general-purpose systems with high ice condenser capacity.
The liquid temperature-controlled shelves enable precise freezing and drying.
The single-chamber principle is particularly suitable for tray drying (bulk goods). Examples include bacterial suspensions, nanoscale materials or diagnostics.
Models & data
Our pre-configured freeze drying systems are available in four different sizes. Choose between the stand-alone unit or prepared version for integration into the wall of an existing clean-room. Thecontrol cabinet with controls and operation can be installed either next to the drying chamber or at the side.

Process optimization
Use our comprehensive process monitoring for your own quality assurance and documentation. Our Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) lead to an understanding of the complex processes and enable stable drying processes.
Wireless product temperature measurement
WTMplus
The wireless product temperature measurement system WTMplus from Martin Christ makes wireless sensor-based product temperature measurement possible for freeze drying. Wireless sensors are placed direclty in the trays during loading and report product temperatures to the system controller during the entire drying process.
- Low influence of product temperature due to passive construction without batteries and very low power levels
- Power supply to the temperature sensor via interference-free radio signal in the 2.4 GHz frequency range
- Any probe location can be set in LPCplus
- Up to 16 sensors for monitoring at various probe positions
- Guaranteed service life of 100 cycles for the entire sensor
- GMP design of the antenna and sensor
- Fully integrated in the SCADA system
Freezing point determination
LyoControl
This tool can be used to determine the freezing point of a product.
The measured values - product temperature and electrical resistance - are used to determine the safe process parameters and provide information about the behavior of the product. Integrating the measurement results into the control system makes it possible to adjust the shelf temperature during the process.
Comparative pressure measurement
Optimized drying monitoring
The simultaneous use of two vacuum sensors with different measuring methods provides information about the drying progress. The Pirani sensor, which is most commonly used, shows higher absolute pressure values at the beginning of the main drying process because it is gas dependent and large amounts of water vapor are released at the beginning of the main drying process. The capacitive pressure sensor is gas independent. The convergence of the two pressure curves over the course of the process indicates the end of the main drying process as no significant amount of water vapor is present.
Further equipment options
Equip your Epsilon system individually with our efficient options and expansion possibilities. Thanks to the flexible system design, the options can be retrofitted at any time.
Linked technologies
Together with our subsidiary and loading system manufacturer Motus, we work hand in hand to tailor your freeze drying process to your needs. As a group of companies, we offer customized loading systems, mobile filling systems and safe powder handling.
Mobile filling system
Filling vessels (e.g. trays)
We develop pioneering solutions for practical applications. Our proven and flexible solution allows a wide range of products to be conveyed precisely and gently. It is particularly suitable for pumping difficult products, such as solid particles.
When pumping viscous media, we enable an even and constant flow of liquid without clogging or degradation.
We offer a robust and reliable solution for pumping a wide range of fluids, including abrasive, corrosive, viscous and sensitive fluids.
Powder handling
PTS - Powder Transfer System
After the freeze drying process, the powdered active ingredients can be transported by our developed vacuum conveyors.
Using a vacuum to transport raw materials is easier than you might think.
The conveyed material is in a closed system from product infeed to product discharge.
